GEICO is seeking a Senior Business Process Architect with Business Architecture, Business Process Design and Automation experience to analyze and design modern business processes and assist with the automation of those processes. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in at least one of the business domain areas and have broad understanding of cross-cutting concerns, and will function in a critical role in establishing consistent standards, patterns and practices across Architecture disciplines to support product, delivery and value stream.

The Senior Business Process Architect will be an expert in Business Process Modeling, Business Architecture and Automation with a strong understanding of business process design best practices, principles, and patterns. GEICO's Senior Business Process Architects are seasoned professionals who will oversee the work of other business process architects and are responsible for one or more business domains. They provide business domain expertise and guidance to engineering and product teams on multiple enterprise initiatives. They have strong knowledge of various business process modeling techniques and best practices, and knowledge of tools to create and visualize architectures, e.g. Visio, MS Power point etc.

Responsibilities

  • Independently lead the assessment of current business processes in the context of defined value streams, and create target state business processes based on modern industry best practices
  • Define roadmaps to reach target state business processes by working with engineering teams and business stakeholders
  • Establish deep business domain knowledge in more than one business domain
  • Create domain models to capture target state business architecture; collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure buy in and achievement of target state
  • Devise KPIs to assess effectiveness of business processes, especially as incremental changes are implemented
  • Drive implementation and enterprise-wide adoption of process governance and process measurement methods
  • Lead the review of business process automation / management software packages, including low code / no code (LCNC) platforms
  • Act as a liaison with other architects (security, infrastructure, data, etc.). and with delivery teams working primarily in an Agile (Scrum/Kanban) manner
  • Influence at multiple levels on relevant issues and challenges and gain buy in
  • Ensure recommended designs and patterns are adhered to as part of delivery
  • Author white papers to provide a viewpoint on new and emerging solutions and industry trends
  • Create and own design patterns (logical and physical), best practices and policies for their area
  • Be a subject matter expert for evaluation of business dashboards and ensure that they fit with divisional strategy for BI (Business Intelligence)

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of business process analysis, optimization, and automation techniques
  • Core Business Domain knowledge for one or more areas of focus, e.g. Claims, Underwriting, Sales etc.
  • Knowledge of Azure or other cloud computing platforms
  • Experience leading the work of other business architects
  • Strong verbal and presentation skills
  • Strong writing skills and thought leadership
  • Ability to influence through persuasion within at least one core business domain or focus area
  • Ability to create a set of requirements in partnership with their customers and to ensure solutions map to the goals of the organization and customer needs
  • Strong problem-solving skills - ability to see past the immediate answer to the simple, elegant solution
  • Ability to see and implement patterns that enable solution simplification

Experience

  • 8+ years of business process analysis, business process management or business architecture experience
  • 2+ years of experience with process modeling techniques (BPMN, UML, flowcharts etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience with Cloud Technologies, Application Design or Development
  • 3+ years of experience in the insurance industry
  • 3+ years of experience with agile methods, developing end-to-end lifecycle software management, integration testing, and / or CI/CD automation tools
  • 1+ years of experience leading teams
  • 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate)

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent verifiable experience, skillset and track record of success)
