Have you successfully transformed a large organizations architecture utilizing a mixture of domain-driven design, microservices and event driven architecture?

GEICO's Enterprise Architecture team is seeking experts to lead the way in our journey. The Architect will have deep expertise understanding how to look at a problem space and perform both strategic and tactical domain-driven design to build decoupled, flexible, maintainable services understanding the principles, opportunities, and challenges of modern architectural paradigms.

A Distinguished Architect II provides breadth and depth as technical experts across multiple Architectural areas such as Application Service, Data, Security, Platform, Infrastructure, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning. A Distinguished Architect II will have deep expertise in both Architecture and Engineering disciplines to ensure that strategy and tactics align. Distinguished Architect II are thought leaders that help accelerate adoption of Engineering and Architecture best practices, while maintaining knowledge on industry innovation, trends, and practices. They establish themselves as a go-to resource on given technologies and technology-enabled capabilities.

Responsibilities:

As an Architect, you will:

  • Lead the development of current and target state domain architectures
  • Provide business, data, application and technology thought leadership in discussions with IT team members and business partners; provide approval on initiatives / designs
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to IT teams for product-level architectures and design
  • Act as a liaison with other architects (security, infrastructure, data, etc.). and with delivery teams working primarily in an Agile (Scrum/Kanban) manner
  • Influence at multiple levels on highly technical issues and challenges and gain buy in
  • Translate requirements into functional service designs and create service models along with supporting documentation (activity and sequence diagrams).
  • Ensure recommended architectural designs and patterns are adhered to as part of delivery
  • Provide service designs deliverables which can be estimated by the appropriate implementation teams
  • Author white papers to provide a viewpoint on new and emerging solutions and industry trends
  • Create and own design patterns, best practices and policies for the enterprise

Qualifications:

  • Expert in the principles of domain-driven design and applying it to a complex domain
  • Expert in the principles, opportunities, and challenges of modern architectural paradigms such as event-driven architecture and microservices
  • Great communicator that can influence through persuasion, facilitate event storming, and can explain complex topics in a simple understandable way
  • Strong writing skills and innovative thought leadership
  • Strong problem-solving skills - ability to see past the immediate answer to the simple, elegant solution
  • Keen to new things, sharing your knowledge, embracing change, working in a team environment, and can learn from past experiences

Experience

  • 10+ years of architecture and software development experience in breaking down complex domains utilizing domain-driven design
  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience designing and delivering successful enterprise capabilities, systems and products
  • 10+ years of experience in JAVA or C#
  • 6+ years of experience with agile methods, developing end-to-end lifecycle software management, testing methodologies, and CI/CD automation tools

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent verifiable experience, skill set and track record of success)

Annual Salary

$120,000.00 - $300,500.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
