This position provides for work-life balance with typically a 40-hours work week that includes flexible work arrangements. The current schedule requires the employee to work on the UT Austin campus 2 days per week. Security sensitive; three-year driving record and criminal background checks conducted on selected candidate. Hiring decision is contingent upon applicant clearing checks. PurposeSupport the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Power Plant and Chilling Station Operations. Evaluate and recommend changes or improvements to operation of the plants. Provide technical oversight to recommend optimal dispatch of the power plant and chilling station systems thereby optimizing cost and operational efficiency. Provide assistance to the Assistant Director in data analysis, reporting, and planning. Responsibilities
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Licensed Professional Engineer in a related discipline or the ability to obtain a license within 4 years. Proven ability to analyze and mine complex data sets with dynamic systems, with special emphasis on thermal fluid, power generation, and hydraulic systems. Be able to demonstrate a broad range of personal effectiveness and leadership skills with the ability to Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred QualificationsAdvanced Degree in Engineering. Five years experience in the operations and maintenance of gas and steam turbines, industrial chillers, and associated equipment. Experience in the use of real time dispatch for power and steam production, chilled water plant optimization, and real time chilled water distribution models. Experience in the design, development, and troubleshooting of Ethernet communications systems that interface Ovation controls, Allen Bradley PLCs, human machine interfaces, and related systems. Driving RequiredThis job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence.
