Pay Grade/Pay Range: 55 Hourly (non-exempt) - Minimum - $ 15.00 Midpoint - $ 18.81

Department/Organization: 502201 - Student Account Services

Normal Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

Job Summary: The Repayment Counselor is responsible for performing a wide variety of activities directed toward the collection of campus based federal and long-term institutional student loans and delinquent student accounts for The University of Alabama. This includes the Federal Perkins Loan Program, a revolving fund; the long-term institutional loan programs, numerous revolving funds; and delinquent student account collections.

Required Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED and a minimum of three years of account collection experience OR a Bachelor's degree.

Skills and Knowledge: Ability to utilize complex computerized management systems. Ability to operate a personal computer (word processing, spreadsheet, & email) and use a calculator effectively. Effective oral and written communication skills, must work effectively under stress, deadlines, and volumes of activity. Must be able to work independently and possess good critical thinking skills. Must possess exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.Must be able to multi-task , deal effectively with multiple types of customers both internal and external to the University. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of student information and accounts.

Preferred Qualifications: Prefer experience working with students and their families in a higher education setting, experience working with Banner software package, and/or experience working with accounts receivable and/or delinquent accounts.
