Summary

Supervises and coordinates activities of warehouse personnel assigned to receive, store, and inventory. Plans, directs, monitors and reports on the daily operation of the section/process under his/her umbrella of responsibilities. Measures and improves performance of work processes. Expected to document and maintain daily schedules, efficiencies and be able to handle any emergency that may arise on the shift. This position holds the prime responsibility for Quality, Accuracy, Completeness and Productivity in the assigned area.



Essential Functions

    Plans, organizes, and assigns daily workload.
  • Effectively supervise the work processes in the assigned work area.
  • Maintains updated S.O.P.'s of work processes as needed.
  • Properly utilize the appropriate tools of the Management Operating System (MOS).
  • Examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Provides timely feedback regarding employee productivity, observations of policy and/or procedure violations.
  • Implements and coordinates continuous improvement programs as directed by Shift Manager.
  • Lead and/or participate in team projects as directed by mandate to ensure projects follow established time lines.
  • Train, monitor and document on work processes execution, accuracy and operational procedures as well as Safety, Quality and Corporate procedures and policies.
  • Advises employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped in compliance with customer requirements.
  • Performs warehouse tours to verify status and visually checks for facility and/or equipment damage at the beginning and end of work day.
  • Follows up on any email communication with other departments or distribution centers concerning warehouse activities.
  • Documents and conducts employee performance evaluations and disciplinary actions under the guidance and approval of Shift Manager.
  • Conducts incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting in coordination with Health and Safety department.
  • Reports any absences and punctuality issues to Supervisor II or Shift Manager.
  • Provides daily input including associate accountability for housekeeping program.
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, including being punctual, and dependable in order to meet the needs of the department and the organization.
  • Execute each essential duty satisfactorily in order to perform job successfully.
  • Follows all safety procedures required in work area, wears PPE as needed, attends all safety meetings, and reports safety issues regarding equipment or unsafe/hazardous conditions.
  • Performs effectively as a team member, able to work well with others, open to receive and give feedback, and treats everyone with respect.
  • Takes ownership of own work and behavior, accepts accountability for own actions, encourages solutions, and communicates status of work/projects.
  • Follow all department quality standards/criteria. Raise concerns and issues to immediate manager.
  • Able to understand and demonstrate Cambro company culture, display company core values (Safety, Quality, Respect, and Service).
  • Understands department's key performance indicators and contributes to achieve these goals both individually and as a team.
  • Other duties as needed or required.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carries our Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed, remain flexible and open to possible schedule changes in order to meet business needs.

In this position you may be required to:

  • Occasionally sit, walk, stand, bend at the neck and/or waist, squat, climb, kneel, crawl, twist at the neck and/or waist, use hands repetitively for simple and power grasping, fine manipulation, pushing & pulling, reaching above and below shoulder level, carrying/lifting up to 50 lbs..
  • Drive cars, trucks, forklifts, and other equipment.
  • Work around equipment and machinery.
  • Work at heights.
  • Operation of foot control or repetitive foot movements.
  • Use of special visual or auditory protective equipment.


Requirements

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Experience with warehouse automation solutions such as good-to-person technologies, voice picking/voice tasking and sortation systems.
  • Familiar with shipping requirements for customers such as Amazon, Wayfair, Walmart, Office Depot and Costco.
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and minimum 1 year of warehouse supervision experience.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to count in all units of measure using whole numbers. Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to interpret bar graphs.
  • Communication both verbal & written: ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Current class "C" driver's license in good standing.
  • Familiarity with computers and proficient with Microsoft office applications.
  • Must have knowledge of all types of material handling equipment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or minimum of 3 years warehouse supervisory experience.
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish.
  • Experienced with WMS or AS400 system transactions and reports.
