Sr. Maintenance Mechanic: Instrumentation and Controls

Description Overview

The Lead Electrical and Instrumentation Technician is responsible for the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems. They will perform troubleshooting, corrective, and preventative maintenance activities on electrical systems and instrumentation associated with process equipment, building and utility systems including fire alarm, lighting control, emergency power generation, electrical distribution, building and process automation control systems. They will also coordinate system repairs and outages with end users to minimize disruption to operations, work closely with engineers and system owners to improve system reliability, and oversee planned maintenance and repairs performed by service providers to ensure efficiency and quality of work.


Key Responsibilities

  • Incumbent will be required to independently make decisions that can have substantial impact on operations of critical components of Plant and Process equipment and systems.
  • Incumbent will routinely perform repair and maintenance tasks on critical equipment with minimal or no supervision.
  • Incumbent will maintain effective communication with other groups within Facilities and Engineering department including Metrology, Facilities Specialists, Automation, Process and Plant Engineers.
  • Incumbent will coordinate their activities with end users and system owners at Alnylam production facilities, laboratories and administrative areas.
  • Incumbent will work closely with Alnylam Engineering department and maintain close cooperation with outside service providers and vendors.
  • Working knowledge of architecture and principles of operations of SCADA/PLC based process control systems.
  • Ability to learn various control system platforms. Experience with distributed control elements such as controllers, IO and network communication.
  • Ability to perform hands-on troubleshooting and repair of electrical distribution system.
  • Ability to support both Norton and Cambridge Alnylam sites.
  • This position requires demonstrated abilities in handling emergencies and routine maintenance and repair tasks.
  • First responder for incident investigation across manufacturing facility, escalating to other technical experts (Facilities, Metrology, Engineering, Automation) as required to efficiently resolve issues.
  • Knowledge of cGMP procedures and practices.


Qualifications

  • AS degree or equivalent combined with minimum of 5 years of Industrial Instrumentation and Controls experience is required.
  • Good working knowledge of Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC's is required.
  • Experience and knowledge with motor controls, and process instrumentation.
