Overview

Dosimetrist - Levine Cancer Institute Radiation Therapy

Location - Greater Charlotte, NC Region

Atrium Health is currently recruiting for two full-time dosimetry positions supporting clinics offering external-beam radiotherapy.

Additionally, we are separately recruiting candidates with proton therapy planning experience in anticipation of the opening of a new facility in 2024.

Job Summary

Provides dosimetry services related to the planning and delivery of therapeutic radiation treatment in accordance with the radiation oncologist's prescription.

Essential Functions

Performs treatment planning dose distributions and calculations for external beams and brachytherapy, including 3-D planning, IMRT, seed implants and stereotactic radiosurgery.

Oversees medical dosimetry practices and procedures.

Consults with staff on implementation of the treatment plan.

Performs calculations and provides technical support as required.

Creates software files for localization and ensures implementation

LCI Radiation Therapy clinics are equipped with Varian treatment planning (Eclipse v16.1), EMR (ARIA 15.6/16.1) and Clinac/Truebeam treatment delivery systems. One LCI clinic is equipped with RayStation (V11A) TPS, Mosaiq EMR and an Elekta Infinity linear accelerator. Each clinic is equipped with a CT Simulator (GE/Philips). LCI clinics have active SBRT and SRS programs and employ Surface Image Guidance Technology in most facilities. MIM Maestro image management software including AI contouring tools is also available.

In March of 2022, Atrium Health broke ground on a new radiation facility where proton therapy, GammaKnife radiotherapy and radiopharmaceutical administration will be offered.

LCI Radiation Oncology clinics host trainees in radiation therapy, medical physics and medical dosimetry and is actively planning to launch in 2023 a new Medical Dosimetry Training Program as joint effort with the Carolinas College of Health Sciences.

Education, Experience and Certifications

HS Diploma or GED required. Board certified required or required within 1 year of employment. Min 2 years of medical dosimetry experience preferred.
