Job Description

We are in search of a Project Cost Control Engineer who will report to our Project Controls Team Lead in our Lake Charles plant. This position will be accountable for implementing and driving use of forecasting methodologies on all capital projects, assist in improving monthly AOP spend to +/- 10%, promote and drive use of Change Management methodologies, drive use of "Value of Work Done" methodology and process, act as primary focal point between Grace and Contractor cost budgeting and forecasting and be an active participant in work process development and improvement .

Responsibilities
  • Engage with Project Managers to develop cost reports showing project authorized budget vs. current forecast, cost to date, forecast to go, trend analysis, and variance against approved budgets
  • Develop project progress tracking reports including productivity reports and Earned Value metrics
  • Assist in the preparation and evaluation of project costs and schedules with respect to industry norms and provides analysis to Project Managers, Capital Planning Managers, and Site Management
  • Support the preparation of monthly financial reports for projects and overall project portfolio. Also prepares other financial analysis as required
  • Assist Project Controls Team Leader and Capital Planning groups with annual AOP process, managing systems & tools supporting group tasks.
  • Assist in addressing Change Management aspects of Grace Capital Management best practices.
  • Assist in the creation and coding of requisitions to Contractors
  • Supports the monthly Value of Work Done (VOWD) process by requesting and documenting Contractor returned progress.
  • Supports the Project Controls team with work process development and improvements
  • Perform monthly Goods Receipts (GRs) for Capital Project purchase orders
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. in related field, Construction Management, Engineering, Accounting, or in lieu of degree, 7+ years of relevant experience supporting capital projects as a cost analyst in a chemical/refining environment
  • Or High school degree or Equivalent and 7+ years as a Cost Analyst in chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Clear understanding and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Working knowledge of Ariba
  • Industry certifications, AACEi or PMP a plus
