About the opportunity

SWCA is seeking a Senior Permitting Project Manager - Power Delivery (including renewable energy generation and transmission) (HR Title = Senior Project Manager) for our growing New Mexico/Four Corners portfolio. We are looking for a motivated, self-directed senior environmental project management professional focused on environmental permitting and compliance services in the Power Delivery sector in the southwest/southern Rockies. You must demonstrate the ability to manage projects effectively in order to attract and retain clients as well as develop and implement business plan strategies that will positively impact growth of the company's services within this geographical area.

The position will be a full-time, regular (with benefits) salaried position. Depending on preference, the successful candidate can be based out of our Albuquerque or Carlsbad, New Mexico or Durango, Colorado offices or work remotely as long as strong industry relationships are maintained in New Mexico or neighboring states.

What you will accomplish

    Support our current clients and develop new ones by providing both our existing services and developing new service lines within the Power Delivery (Generation & Transmission) industry, with an emphasis on renewable energy.
  • Manage environmental permitting, regulatory strategy development, environmental field surveys, and construction compliance for Power Delivery projects, including renewable energy.
  • Prepare detailed proposals and cost estimates for existing and new clients.
  • Provide managerial support for environmental staff including mentorship.
  • Manage the permitting of projects including agency negotiations, Endangered Species Act consultation, National Historic Preservation Act coordination, Clean Water Act permitting, etc.
  • Manage projects requiring coordination with staff conducting wetland delineations, resource surveys and other specialized tasks.
  • Ensure overall performance and accuracy of documents prepared for environmental services in accordance with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other guidelines as applicable.
  • Oversee the preparation of biological assessments, cultural resources reports, and other environmental documents.


Experience and qualifications for success

Required

  • Advanced knowledge of project planning and development related to environmental projects for the Power Delivery industry.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in environmental services, including at least five (5) years in the Power Delivery industry.
  • A minimum of 5 years managing the permitting, environmental consulting, compliance (inspection, erosion/sedimentation controls, SPCC plans, etc.), and/or NEPA documentation for transmission or generation projects.
  • Possess references specific to their management experience related to permitting or NEPA documentation for power generation projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of and ability to apply environmental compliance and permitting regulations of applicable regulatory agencies that include Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), and New Mexico State Lands Office (SLO).
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, procedures, correspondences, and other written materials
  • Ability to travel as needed

Preferred

  • A Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Archaeology, Environmental Sciences, Geology or a related field
  • Knowledge and practice of business development and managing client relationships.
  • Knowledge of document development related to the requests for proposals and providing scopes and fees.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and functions, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including advanced technical writing abilities.
  • Ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships both externally and internally
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.

An employee in this Albuquerque, NM - based position can expect a salary of $90,480.00 to $120,640.00/year. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
