Overview

The Power System Administrator is responsible for all aspects of provisioning, supporting, maintaining, and improving IBM iSeries platform. This individual is responsible for on-call rotation, escalated support responsibilities, Managed Services implementation which includes, but is not limited to, replication software, backup utilities and system monitoring and management tools.



Responsibilities

    Manages projects associated with IBMi, ensuring all activities are performed timely and accurately
  • Works on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Provides thought leadership and innovation within projects and practice areas
  • Troubleshoots technical issues relating to IBMi
  • Analyzes, debugs, and resolves problems and faults such as poor performance and system failures
  • Monitors and reviews performance, throughput, availability, and exception incidents
  • Mentors Operators and other System Administrators
  • Proposes and implements needed improvements
  • Configures and troubleshoots BRMS and eVault
  • Acts as System Administrator for IBMi
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in an IBMi related role; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred
  • Experience with IBM iSeries journaling and commitment control
  • Experience with software-based replication products such as iCluster, Maxava, Mimix, and PowerHA
  • Experience with the Help Systems Halcyon suite of products including:
    • Halcyon Enterprise Console (Windows)
    • Halcyon CCM Console (Windows)
    • Halcyon Operations Center (iSeries)
  • Experience with design and configuration of networked IBM I systems using
    • TCP/IP
    • SNA
    • DDM
    • SNADS
  • Expertise with BRMS and eVault
  • Ability to thrive in a small project team environment.
  • Passionate about customer service
  • Excellent time management, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • Ability/willingness to work weekends and evenings
  • Excellent customer orientation and capability to direct a high volume, high intensity customer support environment
  • Strong logic and reasoning abilities to analyze and react to ITSM solution and Telephony data
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Proven track record leading call center functions, which includes vendor management and communications across organization
  • Commitment to deadlines and deliverables, with a "customer first" attitude
  • Acute sense for customer service is paramount to the success of this role; must be an outstanding customer service-oriented leader
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills
  • Strong change management skills
  • Strong time management and planning skills required to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously while adapting to changes in a fast-paced environment
