CNC Mill Machinist-2nd Shift

Job Description:

The Foot & Ankle division is a growing and dynamic team that is looking for a motivated candidate that is willing to jump start their career. The successful candidate will perform various activities to manufacture orthopedic products. These activities include, but are not limited to, assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of numerically controlled and computerized machine shop equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine control or control media as required
  • Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specification, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and coordinate measuring machine (CMM)
  • Operates equipment within a cell with multiple machines to produce high quality parts within prescribed routed time to meet production demands
  • Changes inserts/tools and makes the necessary offsets to continue to make parts per blueprint and process specifications
  • Maintains equipment via established preventative maintenance schedules
  • Follows all prescribed quality procedures and inspection plans
  • Set up and operate CNC machines, including performing tool changes, setting tool and work offsets
  • Adjust machine controls and change tool settings in order to keep dimensions within specified tolerances
  • Move controls to set cutting speeds and depths, feed rates, and to position tools in relation to work-pieces
  • Perform in-process inspection of parts to verify conformance with specifications, using instruments such as gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators
  • Accurately fabricate parts to specification
  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machine
  • Observe machine operation to detect any other malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and adjust machine controls or control media as necessary
  • Promptly and accurately completes all required recordkeeping
  • Keeps surrounding area clean, safe and organized
  • Responsible for keeping all labor hours with time system accurately
  • Any additional duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Familiarity with CNC controls and G&M programs
  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally and effectively with management, co-workers and other departments

Preferences:

  • CNC programming skills
  • One (1) to two (2) years' experience of CNC machining experience
  • CNC experience in medical device industry
  • GD&T knowledge/print reading

Safety/Physical Requirements

  • Frequent to constantuseoftheir hands and fingers, to handle or feel,and to manipulatein a variety of different body positions or postures
  • Frequent to constant holding, grabbing, grasping, pinching, turning or otherwise working with hands and fingers ranging from dexterous to forceful in nature
  • Frequent to constant lifting or exertion of force of up to 35 lbs,occasionally up to 50 lbs
  • The employee isconstantly or frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands,frequently to climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, ability to judgedimensionsand spatial relationships
