Pavement Marking Tech III (Apex, N.C)

Description

Supervisory position to perform technical and organizational duties. Position provides leadership for crews to safely operate, maintain, repair and troubleshoot equipment assigned to crews.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Ability to read and fully understand striping plans and perform needed layout according to the NCDOT specifications. Ability to communication with contractors, DOT inspectors, and all field personnel under your supervision. Ability to complete daily required paperwork. This includes accurately logging all quantities, yield conversions and verification of meeting required specifications



  • Lead and train crew members to perform essential pavement marking functions
  • Train all personnel in the operation and maintenance of all equipment
  • Implement all current MUTCD, State, City, and local pavement marking and traffic control standards. This includes the identification of incorrect standards in the plans and proper resolutions
  • Understand operations of pavement marking equipment to include, but not limited to, paint, thermo, epoxy, grinder, saw and water blaster trucks
  • Possess driving skills to operate and install acceptable pavement markings
  • Implement striping plans and perform needed layout including intersections markings
  • Install Cold Applied Plastic and Preformed Thermoplastic to job specification
  • Operate and maintain all hand equipment including grinding equipment
  • Follows and enforces all safety rules and regulations and wears proper safety equipment (to include but not limited to: work boots - 6 inches with safety toe, hard hat, safety glasses, and safety vest)
  • Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures
  • All other duties as assigned

Position Requirements


WORK ENIVORMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions; moving equipment and machinery parts; moving traffic, and fumes and airborne particles
  • Noise level of the work environment is usually moderate/loud
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch.
  • Good vision and hearing required along with ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50lbs


REQUIREMENTS:



  • Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in leadership role
  • Holds or ability to obtain Pavement Marking Certification, Flagger Certification, Forklift Certification, Work Zone Installer/Supervisor Certification, OSHA 10/30 card
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Active, or able to obtain, CDL driver's license with good record
  • Pass a DOT drug screen
  • Pass a DOT Physical
  • Pass a criminal background screen
  • Weekly assignments vary locally and throughout Central & Eastern NC
  • Work schedules may include days, nights, and weekend work; Per Diem for meals and hotel expense paid when overnight travel is required. Shift premium paid for night work
