We are currently looking for a MechanicalEngineering Manager in our Central Engineering Group in Ann Arbor, to lead a group of electrical design engineers. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, designing, detailing, and testing new concepts, designs, and technologies for the next generation of KLA tools.

Responsibilities for thisexcitingrolewill include:

  • Manage resource allocations, schedules, and project budgets

  • Create training plans for the development of team members

  • Lead design of components and sub-systems for operation in ultra-high vacuum and precision mechanical and optomechanical components and subsystems

  • Work with suppliers worldwide to develop complex yet efficient, reliable solution for next-generation vacuum platform and optomechanical sub-systems

  • Understand and drive system and subsystem requirement specifications

  • Guide material selection and fabrication methods for high vacuum systems

  • Lead concept and detailed designs

  • Propose feasibility studies and proof of concepts

  • Lead the definition of test criteria and create test plans for functional prototypes

  • Lead multi-functional design reviews

  • Guide the release process according to KLA's standard processes

  • Work with multi-functional groups and lead system-level discussions including impact on overall system performance

  • Lead troubleshooting activities at subsystem and system levels

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess excellent oral and written communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills, in addition to the following:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and fundamentals including design principles, machine elements, materials, fabrication methods, and integration and testing with a focus on high-vacuum systems, particle and contamination control, and precision mechanisms.

  • Experience leading small teams

  • Experience with high-precision mechanism design and UHV for precision instruments

  • Understanding of materials and fabrication method for high vacuum systems

  • Proficient in 3D solid modeling using CAD, preferably ProE/Creo

  • Analytical problem-solving skills in the structural, dynamic, thermal, and fluid domains

  • Specialist of engineering tolerance and error budgets

  • Excel working in a multi-discipline and multi-culture global organization

  • Excellent writing skills and verbal communication

Must be able to travel for training, project support, and support of customers globally
