Job Summary:

The Chemical Operator position is responsible for performing all duties associated with the manufacturing of chemical products at the Greensboro facility. This role will be responsible for batch processing including charging material, processing batches, monitoring and recording data, loading, unloading and cleaning equipment, packaging product, maintaining a safe and orderly work area and assisting other production areas as needed. This position will report to Laura Stranford, Production Manager.

Responsibilities:

Role Specific Responsibilities:

  • Performs duties associated with batch processing and overall chemical manufacturing for the Greensboro site
  • Ensures workplace safety by practicing and following all site safety policies, guidelines, and procedures
  • Operates chemical equipment which could include but is not limited to reactors, pumps, stills, centrifuges, dryers and other manufacturing equipment with proficiency
  • Properly weighs, measures, blends, and checks liquid and chemical raw material to assure batches manufactured contain proper materials and quantities
  • Handles disposal of all hazardous waste properly and in accordance with policies to ensure compliance
  • Achieves production needs and goals consistently while making efforts to minimize product waste and downtime
  • Maintains the cleaning and upkeep of department equipment
  • Adheres to all Aurorium Standard Operating Procedures
  • Operates forklift to move and stack raw or finish goods
  • Maintains detailed records and documents shift information daily
  • Performs daily activities independently with minimal supervision while maintaining communication with the PTL and Lead Operator
  • Assists in cross-training team members and co-workers as needed
  • Maintains outstanding housekeeping and 5S
  • Observes loading process to ensure accurate completion
  • Samples containers and delivers samples to the Quality Lab for testing/analysis
  • Performs SAP transactions corresponding to the operating duties executed
  • Works indoors and outdoors (potentially extreme temperatures) and with chemicals and chemical waste products, some of which can be hazardous
  • Works with a team to organize tasks - rotating job functions and coordinating break times
  • Performs additional duties as assigned/required

  • Complies with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and arrangements
  • Reports all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents and near misses promptly
  • Acts in a safe and responsible manner at all times

Qualifications/Desired Skills:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience Desired:

  • 1 - 3 years' experience in a Chemical manufacturing plant or related industry required
  • Experience wearing required PPE including safety glasses, hard hat, steel toe shoes, gloves, and a respirator

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Self-motivated and ability to work within a fast paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated computer skills and ability to navigate electronic documents
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs (up to 8 stories)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment within a multi-functional, organizational structure
  • Ability to execute strenuous, sometimes repetitive, physical work such as lifting, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors (potentially extreme temperatures) and with chemicals and chemical waste products, some of which can be hazardous
