Job Description

Supervises, organizes and evaluates the staff and activities of the Clinical Engineering. Inspects, repairs and maintains complex clinical equipment as required; provides technical support and guidance in the utilization, maintenance and repair of biomedical equipment. Assists in developing and maintaining policies and procedures for the department; ensures the safety and compliance of all clinical engineering instrumentation.

Job Responsibility



  • Promotes Clinical Engineering department goals by selecting, motivating, and training capable team members.
  • Leads the activities of assigned Clinical Engineering team members by communicating and providing guidance toward achieving department objectives.
  • Supervises, hires, trains, disciplines and evaluates the performance of staff; prioritizes and schedules assignments; oversees daily technical functions of Clinical Engineering Department.
  • Ensures the efficient and technical operation, maintenance and compliance of all Clinical Engineering equipment; assures the orderly flow of equipment to be repaired, through the Clinical Engineering Shop.
  • Documents all testing, maintenance and repair work according to departmental procedures; oversees controls necessary to properly the current medical equipment inventory and service histories from in-house personnel and outside vendors.
  • Contacts vendors and supervises outside vendor repair and maintenance to ensure quality workmanship; oversees installations, renovations, and expansions regarding Clinical Engineering equipment to ensure proper operation of the technology.
  • Recommends, implements and adheres to approved operating goals, objectives and budget; reports operational performance, justification and/or corrective action.
  • Ensures implementation, and evaluation of operating policies, procedures and processes; evaluates equipment and recommends maintenance, repair, upgrade or replacement.
  • Makes recommendations regarding stocking of parts and acquisition of test equipment; maintains parts, tools and equipment inventories.
  • Builds and maintains productive intra-departmental work relationships to optimize operations.

Job Qualification



  • Associate's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience and 0-2 years of leadership / management experience, required.
