Pay Range $40.00-45.00 Industrial Electrician JOB SUMMARY The Electrician Technician is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing all electrical equipment in the plant. They will also be responsible for building and installing new electrical equipment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Comply with Westlake Safety Policies and Procedures * Repairs and Maintains machinery and equipment: mixers, conveyors, stackers/de-stackers, heaters, scissors lifts, etc. * Installs and repairs equipment including electrical equipment * Starts, stops and operates equipment to diagnoses equipment failures, determine cause, repair, and troubleshoot * Dismantles devices to gain access and repair/replace defective parts * Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments * Sets up and operates welder, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts * Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines * Troubleshoots programmable Logic control systems and control wiring to determine problems * Repairs/replaces control devices: switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, contact blocks, motor starters, etc. * Knows location of all equipment in the plant * Shares Concerns about unsafe conditions with fellow workers and safety department * Handles, stores, and uses hazardous chemicals in accordance with safe procedures as specified on the labels and material safety data sheets * Properly executes Confined Space Entry and Lock Tag Try procedure * Understands and executes Emergency Action Plans and Procedures related to the work area * Participates actively in all safety programs established in the plant * Keeps work are clean and free of hazards * Leads efforts to reduce sources of waste * Properly disposes of any wastes generated * Makes proper notification on environmental upset, releases, and or hazardous material spills according to procedures * Follows and promotes safe work practices * Regular attendance, timeliness and scheduling flexibility KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES * Skilled in 120v control wiring and 3 phase 480v motor starters * Welding and Fabrication knowledge and experience * Experience with Allen Bradley PLC Hardware/Software, variable speed drives, hydraulics, pneumatics * Ability to: o read and interpret documents and instructions (written, oral, diagram, schedules) o write routine reports and correspondence o calculate figures/amounts and apply basic algebra and geometry concepts o solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists Electrician 2 Skill Sets: * High Voltage * Low Voltage * Troubleshooting * Electrical Test and Measurement * Blueprints and Schematics * Basic Electrical Design and Theory * Conduit/Wire * Electrician 2 additionally has at least 2 of the 3 skills below: * Mechanical Aptitude * Instrumentation * PLC EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE The employee should have the following: * High School Diploma or equivalent and training or certification in relevant skill or trade * 1 - 2 years' experience in a relevant field ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT The employee should possess the ability to: * Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable * Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out * Prolong standing or in stationary position * Complete repetitive movements * Bend and/or twist * Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds * Ability to move or traverse about the facilities * Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions * Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection) This is not necessarily an all-inclusive list of job-related responsibilities, duties, skills, efforts, requirements or working conditions.
