Job Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Informatics Analyst (CIA) is responsible for providing ongoing support for corporate/division/facility Clinical Informatics projects related to the electronic health record (EHR) and the Clinical Excellence quality agenda. Key components of this work include: standardization, utilization, integration and optimization.

The CIA is the key facility resource responsible for delivering the successful implementation of clinical informatics initiatives. They are responsible for coordinating the completion of project assessments parameter settings and assisting with the development of education/training materials. This individual participates in the company-wide community for CPOE, EBCD, and works with their division peers to ensure clinical informatics applications are well supported throughout the facility. The CIA is responsible for ensuring ongoing training, support, and refinement of clinical informatics, Meaningful Use Initiatives, publicly reported metrics, as well as additional support for clinical applications throughout the facility. Additional responsibilities will include any upgrades and applications as they are implemented.

What You Will Do In This Role:

  • You will strive to meet expectations/needs of customers.
  • You will support of facility-wide standardization, utilization, integration, and optimization activities related to the EHR and other clinical informatics initiatives.
  • You will compile, analyze, and report clinical informatics data to drive quality and performance improvement.
  • You will audit and prepare reports of the electronic health record using tools for data collection and reporting of CPOE, PDOC, and other EHR projects.
  • You will develop, execute, and support education plans, tools, and resources focused on the EHR and other clinical quality informatics initiatives.
  • You will support technology implementations that support clinician workflow.
  • You will identify gaps and opportunities in departmental process mapping of the current state and the future state workflows.
  • You will drive the optimization of clinical informatics tools to drive regulatory compliance, standardization, and quality patient outcomes.
  • You will collaborate with the Director Clinical Informatics, Service Line Directors, and front-line staff on clinical initiatives to advance the Clinical Excellence scorecard.
  • You will collaborate with the clinical and technical IT Team in support of new EHR components to ensure the most efficient clinical workflow.
  • You will perform ongoing monitoring of various EHR utilization trends. Identify gaps/areas of opportunity and provide analysis to address areas of concern.
  • You will collaborate with IT&S to ensure standardization and compliance with best practice models, specifically as it relates to the integrity of the electronic health record.
  • You will establish and maintain strong relationships with the entire project team, clinical leaders, business leaders, IT&S leaders, and staff.
  • You will provide input, updates and communication on clinical informatics initiatives to the Director Clinical Informatics and the Vice President of Clinical Informatics.
  • You will provide system and operations expertise for the implementation of process & system changes.
  • You will provide Go-Live support (elbow support) for clinical informatics initiatives.
  • You will participate in systems training for the project team and serve as Super User for Clinicians.
  • You will design and develop education/training materials in CPOE, EBCD, etc., to support staff training and continued education in collaboration with Nursing Education as needed.
  • You will actively support and promote systems standardization, utilization, and best practices in the area of clinical informatics.
  • You will participate in special projects as needed and performs other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Bachelor's degree required, clinical degree preferred with strong healthcare facility experience; Master Degree preferred, ideally with a focus on Health Informatics
  • Current (per State) RN license for RN applicants
  • Nurse or Health Informatics Certification encouraged
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Clinical/Healthcare Informatics, clinical applications support, or equivalent preferred
  • Meditech experience strongly preferred
  • Must have previous experience facilitating large projects which includes implementation of health technology
  • Understands pertinent regulatory guidelines such as Joint Commission, HIPAA, State Regulations, CMS, etc.
  • Establish strategic direction through securing information and identifying key issues and relationships relevant to achieving a long-range goal or vision
