Security sensitive; three-year driving record and criminal background checks conducted on selected candidate. Hiring decision is contingent upon applicant clearing checks. Applicant required to successfully complete physical abilities testing to remove/replace a large manhole cover weighing 120 lbs and drag 4 ft.; lift/carry 78 lbs, pull 125 lbs, lift two-45 lbs of weight up a ladder, kneeling work in confined spaces, and other tasks.

Purpose

To develop journey-level skills through training on skilled work within the specific trade assignment. Responsible for learning skills in the operation, maintenance and repair of the trade assignment, and to perform such work to the limit of their experience.

Responsibilities
  • Learns journey level skills by installing, maintaining, operating, building, or repairing the equipment and materials relevant to the trade assignment.
  • Uses tools and equipment to perform the duties of the trade assignment as outlined in the journey level job description to the limit of their experience.
  • Performs periodic duties listed in the journey level job description to the limit of their experience. Drive University vehicles. Maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157 Section 2.5.4.
  • Performs related job duties as assigned. Performs other functions as assigned. Performs all work in accordance with appropriate safety standards and practices.
Required Qualifications

Diploma (High School) or GED. Skilled construction and maintenance of equipment or apparatus of the type related to the position.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Electrical Trade.

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.

Salary Range

$39,384 + depending on qualifications

  • May be required to operate forklifts, personnel lifts and cranes. Operate job related equipment.
  • May be required to perform elevated work. Occasional work from ladders and/or scaffolds.
  • Participate in on-call program.
