The position revolves around developing and characterizing the activity of small molecules targeting nuclear receptors involved in neurodegeneration (e.g. Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, ALS-FTD, retinal degeneration). The critical functions associated with the position include (1) performing various cellular assays (e.g. qPCR, luciferase reporter assays) to evaluate the activity of small molecules targeting nuclear receptors, (2) overexpressing and purifying nuclear receptor ligand binding domain proteins and performing biochemical and biophysical assays (e.g. MST, DSF, SPR, FRET) evaluating the affinity and effects of small molecules on the nuclear receptors, (3) synthesis of small molecules. Candidates are expected to be an expert in at least one of these areas. Required Qualifications:
