20230020 Scorekeeper - Adult Basketball CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled APPLY ONLINE AT LONGMONTCOLORADO.GOV/JOBS Department: Recreation, Golf, Library, and Culture Division: Recreation Hiring Rate: $16.43/hour Various shifts, some evenings, weekends, and/or holidays Part Time Temporary Benefits include: Benefits required by law are included such as Jury & Witness Duty, Sick Leave, Social Security, and Medicare. Definition: Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of scores and standings for team sports. Position is required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Principal Duties: Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Observing, tracking, and recording the progress of an athletic event by writing the score on a score sheet and posting the score on an electronic scoreboard. Aid in the set up and tear down of playing facilities and equipment. Provide qualified substitutes when necessary. Have a competent understanding of game rules and regulations of activity being played. Fill out proper forms related to proper record keeping. Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings. Working Environment: Work is either performed indoors or outdoors. Must be able to work in an environment with poor acoustics and an array of distractions, including music and weather conditions. Hearing, speaking and good public relation skills are required. The work may also entail working closely with co-employees and supervisors. Must have the ability to position and lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Requires bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and reaching skills. Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years of age. A minimum of 2 years of playing or scorekeeping experience in the activity being played is desirable. Must attend and successfully complete all trainings relevant to the position.
