Senior Accountant - Hybrid

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Assist with or lead the month end process for assigned businesses or groups. Primary responsibilities include internal claim transfer accounting between Optum and UnitedHealthcare
  • MLR market review
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports
  • Reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close
  • Prepare journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits
  • Prepares fluctuation analytics and commentary for Leadership
  • Miscellaneous ad hoc projects
  • Collaborates with other teams within the organization to ensure successful project deployment

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance
  • 1.5+ years of accounting, finance
  • Solid MS Excel skills


Preferred Qualifications:



  • PeopleSoft Financial experience
  • Smart View experience
  • SAS Experience
  • Knowledge in MS Access
  • Demonstrates the drive and motivation to deliver high quality results based on thorough analysis
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid attention to detail
