Account Management leadership position responsible for achieving revenue, membership, and earnings objectives in the National Accounts Specialty segment. Responsible for the account management staff and managing the distribution of products and services to existing account/clients. Provides guidance and leadership to account management staff for sales/retention strategy and execution of our mission fully focused on Net Growth.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Manage a team of Strategic Client Executives responsible for Renewal block management of Dental, Vision and Financial protection products across the National Accounts Specialty Book of Business
  • Establishment of National Specialty strategic business plan for the National Accounts Client Management Team
  • Act as an Executive Sponsor for all specialty activities and initiatives across the country
  • Establish, track and report on specialty persistency and financial performance to National Accounts and Specialty Senior leadership
  • Work with Specialty Strategic Client Executives on growth strategies tied to their National Account Specialty blocks with an overall focus on Net Growth
  • Work directly with National Account team on day to day activities relative to the installation, renewal and sales of the specialty benefits portfolio
  • Promote cross selling initiatives tied to existing medical and specialty block of business
  • Act as escalation point for market leadership on any sales or service issues that require specialty leadership intervention
  • Communicate broadly and regularly to the national markets relative to product, pricing or process changes
  • Assist National Markets with navigating the specialty product, operations and service functional areas
  • Manage and facilitate organic growth activities tied to enrollment and reenrollment strategies with our Specialty Block

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience in Group Benefits in Account Management, developing renewal strategies
  • Sales and account management experience in the insurance industry working with specialty benefits products
  • Experience using HRIS and Benefit Administration systems
  • Understanding and experience in enrollment systems and processes
  • Ability to run high stakes meetings internally and externally
  • Superior underwriting and financial acumen
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to travel as needed (50% at most)


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to skillfully manage and navigate across a matrixed organization

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, Washington or New York City Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, Washington or New York City residents is $90,000 to $180,000. Role is also eligible to receive bonuses based on sales performance. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
