News Special Projects Producer

KATU/KUNP has an immediate opening for a creative Special Projects Producer! In this role, you will be responsible for the daily production of news content to include in our newscasts. This involves weekly segments, sponsored segments, and at times, stories for anchors. The position also includes significant help in producing election content, Town Hall content and occasionally help for the reporters on the special projects team and other projects as assigned. This position also includes producing Your Voice, Your Vote, as a back up to the main producer of this political talk show. This position will also work closely with the Executive Producer, Director, Assignment Desk and Anchors on the newscast and its content.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Solid news judgment
• Be a compelling and accurate writer
• Be able to multitask and manage time in order to put together exciting content for air and on digital properties
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• The ability to execute news strategies and goals in assigned tasks
• Flexibility and on-the-spot problem solving abilities are a must
• Proficient with non-linear editing (i.e. Avid) and newsroom systems, such as iNews

Experience:

• Must have at least some previous news experience at a commercial TV station. Experience in reporting or producing will enhance your application
• A Journalism degree is preferred
• You must provide a video reel to show your previous work
