Job Description

We're hiring aPrincipal Process Design Engineer, who will report directly to the Director, Process Engineering and Design. This position will be based at our corporate headquarters in Columbia, MD and offer a hybrid work schedule, 3 days onsite and 2 days remote/at home. You must also be able to travel up to 50% which will include international.

In this role, you will beresponsible for technical process design as the process engineering resource and lead activities associated with scoping, design and start-up of capital projects across Grace. You willlead a team of engineering professionals (internal and contract resources) on a project by project basis deployed across a portfolio of strategic capital projects that are aligned with the growth and productivity goals of the company.The successful candidate will need to have experience in driving improvements in process design practices and rigor on capital projects across the company and leading/managing all aspects of process engineering and design required to support $50-$100 M strategic capital spend. He/she will direct process engineering and design activities required to successfully support all phases of capital project execution from concept through authorization and final design.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, demonstrate and ensure a strong safety culture within the organization with a particular emphasis on process safety and hazards during design.
  • Leads and manages a team of 1-5 engineers (internal and contractors) supporting engineering design for strategic capital projects across all product lines.
  • With Project Managers and ISC Directors the individual prioritizes and aligns process design resources to meet strategic and operating commitments.
  • Collaborate with Process Technology leaders and ISC to ensure successful design and scale-up of new processes and equipment to manufacturing (Cost, quality, schedule).
  • Defines procedures and work processes to strengthen linkage between concept, data and process design for a more robust manufacturing process.
  • Interacts with equipment vendors and other suppliers during design, assembly and final installation.
  • Develops order of magnitude and merit level capital estimates for screening purposes of project alternatives..
  • Partners with Process Innovation Center engineers to identify and evaluate state of the art equipment and technologies that will improve manufacturing capability or lower production costs.
  • Evaluates process engineering aspects of M&A due diligence and supports integration as needed.
  • Support other engineering related activities throughout the company by leading and participating in task force teams.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. in an Engineering discipline, Chemical Engineering highly preferred.
  • 15+ years of process design experience preferably in the chemical manufacturing industry
  • 10+ years of technical leadership or management experience
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% to include internationally.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or above
