JOB SUMMARY
The Cytotechnologist 1 performs screening of gynecological cytology specimens and renders an appropriate diagnosis, triages abnormal gynecologic cases to pathologists. Pre-screens non-gynecologic cytology cases for pathologist review. Participates in other quality control initiatives and assists as needed in a variety of laboratory functions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE Completes screening and computer entry of diagnosis for gynecological and non-gynecological cases. Participates in cytology departments quality assurance and quality control program. Assists others in the laboratory as needed. Contributes to the education of others and continues own education. KEY SUCCESS FACTORS Knowledge and ability to perform laboratory protocols and procedures in accordance with regulations. Analytical and critical thinking abilities. Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions. Ability to multitask. Skill in the use of computers and related software applications. Knowledge of safety and infection control standards.
