Survey Technician

Description

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Survey Technician to work out of our Southpointe, PA, Trenton, NJ, or Richmond, VA office. The ideal candidate will learn survey terminology and references, equipment calibration techniques, conduct measurements required for technical survey work, and learn to set up tripods and other basic equipment.

Job Duties:



  • Apply theory and principles of surveying to modify, test, and operate survey equipment.
  • Work both in office environments and in the field.
  • Handle basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Produce tabulating data, and prepares field notes, and sketches.
  • Possess strong organizational skills.
  • Follow all safety policies, requirements, and wear proper PPE.

  • Must be able to endure inclement weather (extreme heat, cold, etc.).
  • Must wade through the water; ability to ride in a boat and swimming skills are preferred.
  • Must be able to be exposed to heights and moderate to difficult terrains, these conditions may require certain motor skills (i.e. climbing, hiking, wading, etc.) while having the ability to safely use hand tools, etc.
  • Must be able to withstand a physically demanding job, carrying between 25 - 50 lbs. routinely.
  • Must be able to walk for lengthy periods of time.
  • Must wear a shirt, long pants, and boots at all times on job sites.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for insurability purposes.
