Description

GAI Consultants is seeking an Inspector (CEI) to support our Jacksonville, FL office. Under the direction of the Construction Project Manager, the inspector's duties are primarily concerned with overseeing contractors' work to assure compliance with plans and specifications. Good public relations and communication skills are a must as well as the ability to work well with others.

Perform complex technical assignments such as in-field surveying and construction layout and making and checking engineering computations. Inspect construction work and conduct field tests. Coordinate with and take instructions from other senior inspection staff. Interpret plans and specifications. Monitor contractors' work for compliance with contract documents. Prepare construction documentation including written reports, and take photos of onsite operations. Track site quantities including construction math computations. Verify permit compliance. Verify materials including taking field samples at required frequencies.

4 years of experience in construction inspection, two (2) years of which should be in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection. Certifications required: CTQP Concrete Field inspector, Level I CTQP Asphalt Roadway, Level I CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection, ICTQP Pile driving Inspection, CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection (required for inspection of all drilled shafts including misc. structures such as signs, lighting and traffic signals), IMSA Traffic Signal Technical Level I, CTPQ Final Estimates Level I, FDOT Intermediate MOT, Nuclear Radiation Safety, Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors.
