Job Summary

Under limited supervision, the Sr. Accountant prepares, distributes, and reconciles timely / accurate invoices to our government and commercial space clients that are contract and FAR compliant. The full invoicing cycle is inclusive of analysis, accruals, actuals, and reconciliations. In addition, the Sr. Accountant collaborates with internal organizations from signed contract to contract close-out. The department environment is dynamic, interesting, and innovative.

  • Hybrid: Requires going onsite occasionally to our El Segundo, CA location

What You'll Be Doing

  • Prepares accurate invoices with supporting documentation based on contract requirements, corporate practices, and government regulations
  • Maintains billing schedules to ensure timely contract invoicing
  • Keeps actively engaged with the Contract Billing Manager and the Billing Team
  • Assists internal and external customers regarding invoice inquiries
  • Prepares general ledger journal entries to record billed and unbilled activity during the fiscal month
  • Participate in related activities when assigned

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have an inquisitive nature! Be a pro-active self-starter! Strive for process improvements!
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • LEVEL III - Six or more years of progressive experience preparing, reviewing, and submitting accurate invoices and/or financial reports to multiple government customers within prescribed deadlines
  • LEVEL IV - Ten or more years of progressive experience preparing, reviewing, and submitting accurate invoices and/or financial reports to multiple government customers within prescribed deadlines
  • Experience with government contracting regulations (e.g., FAR, DFAR, NASA), rates (e.g., overhead, CAS-414, and fee) and different contract types (CPFF, FFP, T&M, Grants, etc.)
  • Experience working with SAP systems (e.g., SAP/Dassian) and MS Excel
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Position requires working a standard 5-day schedule and working more than standard working hours, particularly during fiscal year-end close (September through November)

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Advanced hands-on experience with SAP/Dassian and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards, practices, and procedures
  • Experience preparing journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations, and performing month-end close activities
  • Experience submitting electronic invoices using Wide Area Workflow (WAWF) and/or Invoice Processing Platform (IPP) and other methods as required by the contract
  • Experience preparing supporting schedules for inclusion in Incurred Cost Claim filings
  • CPA with public accounting experience

We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$74,000 - $96,000 - $115,000 Pay Basis: Annual
