Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The Leatherby Libraries are seeking to hire a
STEM Librarian who will participate in reference services, information literacy instruction, collection development, and liaison work in support of the Schmid College of Science and Technology, the Fowler School of Engineering, and the Crean College of Health and Behavioral Sciences.
This position will provide leadership and guidance within the Libraries and in partnership with faculty and other library subject specialists to integrate information resources, research methodologies, software tools, and data services in the
STEM disciplines.
The ideal candidate for this position will stay current with emerging areas in librarianship, such as Scholarly Communications, Open Access, Open Educational Resources, Data Literacy, and University
DEI initiatives. Based on the library's organizational needs, this individual may serve on library and university committees and work on special projects. Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities |
- Provide leadership and research support within the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines in various formats.
- Collaborate with STEM stakeholders, including administrators, faculty, and students, to integrate library resources and discipline-specific technologies and analytical tools (e.g., ArcGIS, SciFinder, ChemDraw, Excel, Python, Zotero) throughout the STEM research life cycle.
- Partner with faculty and library subject specialists to use information resources, digital methodologies, data management, and statistical analysis in STEM research and teaching.
- Produce discipline-specific information navigation resources in formats such as LibGuides and Canvas dens.
- Provide assessment and analysis of the research landscape in STEM fields so that faculty and student researchers understand their own discipline's research culture, conventions, and trends.
- Participate in reference, collection development (including existing and new digital tools and born-digital resources), and liaison work.
- Provide library instruction in various formats, including bibliographic information sessions embedded in classes and individual research consultations with faculty and students.
- Serve on library committees and, as needed, university-wide committees.
- Work on special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate professional development through scholarly or creative activities that produce new knowledge, reviewing library-related literature, and annual reflective analysis.

Required Qualifications |
- Requirements: A.L.A. accredited M.L.S. degree or equivalent experience and education.
- B.S., M.S or Ph.D. in a STEM field (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, geology, mathematics, engineering, computer science, environmental science, etc.) or equivalent experience and education.
- Demonstrated ability to work with STEM faculty on collection development, library instruction, and liaison work.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse individuals at all organizational levels, both inside and outside the university.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service and working in a team environment.
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and make appropriate decisions and recommendations.
- Commitment to professional growth and development.
- Demonstrated experience in reference services, collection development, and library instruction preferably in an academic library.
- Demonstrated knowledge of a full variety of online database products, with an emphasis on STEM information sources, and trends in online service access.
- Knowledgeable of trends and developments in collection development for academic libraries.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and coordinate work among different projects.
- Proven ability to offer new approaches and innovation as appropriate to the position (e.g., open educational resources, data literacy).
- Knowledge of the writing and publishing (e.g., scholarly communications, open access) process.
- Demonstrated knowledge of STEM methodologies, technologies, and research.
