Summary
Fishbeck has an exciting opportunity for a creative and talented Designer/Drafting Specialist for our Novi, MI office. The qualified applicant must be able to demonstrate career experience in civil or water/wastewater engineering consulting environment. This position requires self-motivation, commitment to high-quality work performance, excellent planning and communication skills, and the ability to work with other staff in a project team environment.
Primary Functions
- Work closely with clients and technical staff from all Fishbeck offices to assist in providing consulting services for state and private universities, municipalities, land development clients, and private utility companies.
- Interact daily with multi-disciplinary and multi-office teams within Fishbeck and with other consultants to complete projects on schedule and within budget together.
- Set up and layout projects, manage the graphics of a project and manage printing/plotting distribution process.
- Participate and assist in the design process from the beginning of the project through the approvals and permitting, final design, and construction phases.
- Assist others, as necessary, to update department standards, details, and associated graphics related to AutoCAD, and Civil 3D (Revit is a bonus!)
- Learn future software upgrades and continue to refine personal and professional skill sets.
Minimum Physical Requirements
Exposed to occasional lifting and carrying. Will have normal office working conditions and be required to sit and use a computer. Capable of traveling to and maneuvering around project sites for attending client and project meetings and site observations. Able to use various technical equipment for communication and documentation. Visual acuity is necessary to perform responsibilities.
Desired Education
Associates degree or equivalent experience
Desired Skills/Experience
- Experience in operating AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Arc Map GIS software on civil engineering consulting projects.
- Interest in Civil or Water/Wastewater and Infrastructure Design and coordinating with multiple departments to complete a multidiscipline project.
- Knowledge or experience of MicroStation is beneficial.
- Knowledge or experience of Revit/BIM is beneficial.
- Familiarization with large document printers.
- Excellent computer and communication skills are a must.
