As part of a hard-working and accomplished team of enthusiasts, you will support Blue Origin's launch vehicle programs! You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of additively manufactured spaceflight and supporting hardware, continuous improvement, and process development. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedication and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

The Additive Manufacturing (AM) Engineer, Applications, role will work closely with customers to vet design intent and ensure manufacturing challenges are resolved. It is required that we intimately understand the challenges present in AM processes, and can communicate these to designers to ensure the parts we produce are the highest quality possible.

We work closely on polymeric and composite AM spaceflight and other supporting hardware alongside principle designers, quality and manufacturing engineers, as well as the technicians who will be hands-on with hardware. In addition, we help improve design-for AM (DFAM) strategies, guide material and technology evaluation, and teach DFAM to designers across the company!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide design-for-AM (DFAM) direction and feedback through customer relations.
  • Lead R&D development workflows for parts and aid in their transition to production readiness.
  • Review and approve AM part engineering drawings.
  • Ensure all specifications and company standards are met during research and development activities.
  • Help evaluate new technologies, equipment and other research efforts.
  • Aid in creation and improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Work directly with other engineering teams and technicians to ensure quality manufacturing, and post-processing results.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of a four-year engineering degree in a relevant field.
  • Proven understanding of 3D printing applications.
  • A demeanor of outstanding attention-to-detail, quality, and dedication.
  • Confirmed understanding of general AM polymer characteristics and process limitations.
  • DFAM knowledge and experience.
  • Proficient with Computer Aided Design (CAD).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and a customer-first focus
  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien or otherwise able to review all export-controlled technical information.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with various AM software packages (simulation, slicing, packing, etc.)
  • Experience operating various AM machines and related post-processing equipment.
  • Experience drafting, releasing, and improving SOPs.

Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $100,320 - $125,400
