Join our team as a full-time CAD Drafter / Technician! We are in search of a Drafter/Designer to join Osborn Consulting in support of our civil engineering and landscape architecture services. Our Civil Technical team provides drafting and design support across multiple practices. This includes transportation drainage, stormwater management, fish passage/habitat restoration, green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) / low impact development (LID), site development, Port projects, and utility relocation projects, large and small.

We successfully deliver innovative projects for our public clients including local cities, counties, ports, tribal districts, neighborhood groups, as well as federal government agencies. We leverage the latest versions of software including Civil 3D/AutoCAD, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, ProjectWise, ArcGIS. Your experience in one or more of these applications is recommended. The position will be based out of either our Bellevue headquarters or Spokane office, but could potentially shift to remote, depending on the experience and expertise of the applicant.

About the Position

This position will be a Lead Technician on one or more projects reporting directly to the Project Managers and business line leads. Responsibilities will include:




  • Setting up project CADD files, producing project drawings, and electronically delivering to the client.
  • Understanding of and adhering to internal and client CADD standards. We strive to achieve a consistent and high-quality deliverable.
  • Collaborating with project engineers and designers by following direction and providing a high level of design accuracy and completeness.
  • Preparing and participating in the development of Civil Engineering drawings during planning, permitting, design, and construction phases.
  • Mentoring other staff as required for the project needs.
  • Providing QA/QC of internal CADD designs and drafting by other team members when required.
  • Providing feedback and ideas to CADD Manager related to improving CADD workflows and standards.



About You



  • AA in Engineering Drafting Technology / CAD Drafting & Design or equivalent coursework
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D and/or MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads
  • Assertive, resourceful, and a problem solver.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and project deadlines. Our Project Managers rely on your experience and judgment.
  • Ability to understand and translate technical details relevant to our industry.



Bonus Points



  • 2+ years drafting/design experience in civil engineering
  • Experience with local and regional agency guidelines, procedures, and plan preparation.
  • WSDOT project experience.
  • Knowledge of GIS terminology and importing GIS and LIDAR data.
  • Experience with Bentley ProjectWise.
