Water/Wastewater Engineer

Location: Columbus, OH

Job Summary

Fishbeck is seeking a mid-level Water/Wastewater Process Engineer to assist on studies, designs, and construction administration for drinking water and wastewater system projects. The duties will be performed in a multi-discipline team environment which consists of staff of varying experience levels in multiple office locations.

Primary Functions


  • Assist with the preparation of studies for facility master planning, alternatives analyses, feasibility studies, and preliminary engineering reports.
  • Conduct calculations for treatment plant hydraulics and process component sizing.
  • Coordinate with staff from multiple design disciplines.
  • Develop design drawings and specifications and obtaining construction permits from regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct submittal reviews and coordinate with onsite inspectors.
  • Make site visits during design and construction for owner and contractor coordination.
  • Involvement in trade organizations (AWWA, WEF, etc.).


Minimum Physical Requirements

Exposed to occasional lifting and carrying. Will have normal office working conditions and be required to sit and use a computer. Capable of traveling to and maneuvering around project sites for attending client and project meetings and site observations. Able to use various technical equipment for communication and documentation. Visual acuity necessary to perform responsibilities.

Desired Education

Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field.

Desired Skills/Experience


  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of application.
  • 4+ years of primarily water and/or wastewater process experience.
  • Self-motivation, good communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including Work, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Experience with Revit 3D modeling software a plus.
  • Ability to interact with project team to complete assignments.
