The Opportunity

Position Summary:

Under the direction and supervision of the Carpentry Services Manager and Facilities Management, the primary responsibility of the Locksmith position is to perform Locksmith trade skills which includes the repair, installation, and maintenance of all the various types of lock systems on the Main campus and Satellite locations as needed. The position requires knowledge of construction and remodeling trades, practices, and procedures. This position is also required to perform Carpentry repairs as assigned by the Carpentry Services manager. The Locksmith will interact heavily with all trades and Facilities personnel. The position is required to participate in snow removal operations, which may involve weekends and holidays, as well as in other maintenance capacities as required to meet the needs of the University. The position requires being on-call for Locks and Carpentry maintenance emergencies on a revolving basis and when emergencies arise, being able to respond to campus via a telephone call.

In this Role You'll Get To:

  • Work with types of hardware included in maintenance and repair responsibilities: Lever handle locks, Dead Bolts, Rim/Mortise Locks, Padlocks, Interchangeable Core (IC) Cylinders, Euro Profile Cylinders, Furniture Locks, Key in Knob (KIK) Cylinder, Cam Locks, Tamper Proof Deadbolts
  • Work with Electrical Team to install and maintain card access systems
  • Work with ITS Application Operations, CBORD, and Electrical Team in troubleshooting card access systems
  • Use CSGOLD software to troubleshoot access control systems
  • Identify, install, maintain, adjust, repair, fabricate, rebuild, and replace lock cylinders and locks including combinations, electronic, ADA-approved locks, and other institutional hardware; this includes working with specific keyway systems to eliminate duplication of keys outside of the University
  • Generate, operate, and maintain multiple computerized databases to minimize duplication of master key systems through tracking and cataloging of keys; maintain records and security files
  • Select key blanks to fabricate or duplicate keys; provide departments with keys as requested and ensure they are distributed to the proper personnel.
  • Participate in snow removal including plowing with SNHU equipment, shoveling and salting walkways
  • Participate in technical training and Human Resource training as directed by management
  • Participate in other maintenance capacities as assigned

What we're Looking For:

  • High School education or equivalent
  • 2+ years as a Locksmith.
  • Operator/driver's license
