Job Summary
Under general supervision, the plumber is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution and waste water disposal. In residential, commercial and industrial buildings. Also repairs and maintains medical gas systems and sprinkler systems of Denver Health facilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs preventative maintenance, new installations, repairs and monthly tests as required by/according to applicable and current standards and codes on all types of Domestic Water and Sewer Systems. Including Sewer System back-ups. Performs preventative maintenance, new installations, repairs and monthly tests as required by/according to applicable and current standards and codes on all types of sprinkler systems. Performs preventative maintenance, new installations, repairs and monthly tests as required by/according to applicable and current standards and codes on all types of Medical Gas Systems. Performs Emergency repairs, responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Acts as a lead for projects and repairs assigned that require helpers/assistants by coordinating, organizing and guidance to the assistants to insure project completion. Maintains computerized work order records and organize daily activity reports. Estimate materials, labor and equipment costs. Keep All Certifications and Licenses required for this job current. Reviews blue prints, schematics and drawings of all plumbing systems of new buildings and/or remodels for the purpose of determining that the design and products meet DHHA standards.
  • Reviews/Ensures all contractor work of installations or repairs meet applicable and current standards, codes and design drawings. Requests / pulls permits from City of Denver building department as needed for minor installations and repairs.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

Work Experience:

  • Four years working in a Commercial environment Required

Licenses:

  • Valid Colorado Driver's License Class R ID Required.
  • State of Colorado Journeyman Plumbers License required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to the plumbing trade.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable plumbing codes, regulations, policies and installation and maintenance procedures,
  • Understanding of mechanical operations of equipment such as pumps, boilers, heaters, and other plumbing components.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other trades.
  • Analytical thinking skills.
  • Ability to make decisions in high pressure situations.
  • Effective communication skills in written, verbal, listening and presentation.
  • Effective negotiation and mediation skills.
  • Strong ability to perform work orders efficiently without or minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to estimate materials labor and equipment requirements for costs and job planning.
  • Ability to maintain records, organize daily activity reports.
  • Ability to read blue prints, make one line diagrams for material and labor estimates.
