Under general supervision, and usually working alone, perform work of a technical
nature
involving communications/computer equipment in Company and related areas or properties; to
keep abreast of details of equipment function, operation and use so as to be in a position to
exercise correct judgment so that economic utilization of system
generation, system protection,
or system operation will not be impaired.
To perform maintenance repair, adjustment, modification, and test work on
communication/computer equipment when assigned; and to make new installations, removals,
and reinstallation
s of like equipment. In this connection to perform details of work on equipment
utilizing advanced electronic techniques, test equipment and computer based programs. The
work responsibilities include categories such as transport systems, network WAN/LAN, SC
ADA
(electric and gas), two
-
way radio and mobile/wireless data systems.
Coordinate with the IT Operations Center to set up the communication link to the RTU using the
MPLS network connection.
Assembles, installs and/or tests telecommunications equipment t
o include floor drilling, relay
rack, ladder rack and other frame work.
Assembles, installs, and/or tests network equipment used for transporting information and
control.
SPECIAL
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Use a personal computer to maintain various records, e
-
ma
il, enter time via TRIS, transfer files,
etc.
Respond to emergency callouts at any hour of day or night, and subject to out
-
of
-
town traveling
assignments.
Maintain safe operation of Company automotive vehicles.
Maintain voice and data radio systems to
conform to the Federal Communications Commission
rules and regulations and Company policy.
Must comply with Company's Protective Apparel Policy and PPE Policy.

With Energy Centers, Stores, Substations, Regional Operations, Transmission Operations
,
Metering, Fleet Services, Transmission and Customer Operations, and Engineering employees
of Ameren and employees of other companies such as other electric, gas, and telephone
utilities; representatives of equipment suppliers; and owners of property upon
which
communications equipment is located. WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposed at times to outside weather conditions; subject to high noise levels, vibration, drafts,
and occasional extreme changes in temperature.
HAZARDS
:
Subject to hazard of electrical
shocks or burns while working on energized power circuits up to
250 volts, and on electronic equipment with potentials up to 2,000 volts and working at times in
the immediate vicinity of high voltage equipment, battery acids, and LP gas, and subject to
dri
ving under all kinds of weather and road conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Two (2) years of experience in maintenance work on electrical or electronic equipment.
Employees accepting Regional positions may be required, at the Company's discretion, to
obtain and m
aintain Callaway unescorted access as a condition of acceptance.
Associate's degree or higher from an accredited university, college, junior college, or technical
school, in Telecommunications, IT Networking, or other IT Discipline, or equivalent military
telecommunications certification, or:
Associate's degree or higher from an accredited university, college, junior college in a non
-
technical field, plus extensive (5 years) experience performing telecommunications
related
installations, maintenance, and op
erations.
CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician), CompTIA Network+, or greater
Cisco or
Comp TIA network
certification
Successfully pass company
-
developed skills proficiency qualification examination.
