CEI - CSS (Contract Support Specialist)

GAI Consultants is seeking an individual to join its Power Unit as a CEI-CSS (Construction Engineering and Inspection - Contract Support Specialist) to be connected to our Louisville, KY office but the majority of the work will be performed in Owensboro, KY. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of construction experience with earthwork or a degree in geology, engineering, or a related field. A relocation bonus and/or sign-on bonus is available for the successful candidate.

Job Duties:



  • Performs quality assurance inspections for mass earthwork projects involving solid waste facilities, dams, mine reclamation, landslide mitigation, and roadway projects.
  • Inspection of earthwork/grading for conformance with construction drawings, foundation inspection, drainage pipe installation inspection, rebar placement inspection, and concrete quality control testing.
  • Responsible for observing construction activities, completing field testing of soils/earthwork, inspecting geosynthetic liner installation, and completing daily reports to monitor and document Construction Activities.


Skills:



  • Requires attention to detail and ability to document construction, identify non-compliance with construction plans and specifications and write inspection reports.
  • Requires good communication skills. The individual must effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) with Owner and Contractor to provide information on field testing results and if testing results meet the project requirements.


Experience:



  • Experience with soil testing, preferably with Nuclear Density Gauge Testing, or ACI Grade 1 Certification is required.
  • Experience with construction quality control (CQC) or construction quality assurance (CQA) for the installation of geosynthetic liner systems is desired, but not required.
