Functional area: Project Development

RWE Renewables Offshore Wind is looking for a talentedDevelopment Director to join our west coast team based in San Francisco Ca. This position would not only lead all aspects of development but also be a key industry influencer on the west coast with regard to energy policy and transmission.

Responsibilities

  • Leadthe development of a large and complex floating offshore wind project on in California; Develop the respective project organization. Report directly to the project Steering Committee and senior management of RWE Renewables
  • Represent the project externally in industry forums and drive policy discussions in close alignment with the Government Affairs team (e.g. to advance offtake mechanisms and transmission build out)
  • Coordinate/Interface with offshore and engineering technical teams, partnering, finance, legal, procurement, construction and commercial analysis as needed to ensure effective development of offshore wind project
  • Manage budgets, objectives, schedules and deliverables for assigned offshore wind development projects consistent with financial targets.
  • Business development: Identify, create, asses and implement project/ business opportunities, i.e. potential co-operations with local partners and other developers or investors
  • Actively engage with supply chain and local stakeholdersfor offshore wind and represent RWE's interests; monitor and drive technological development
  • HSE: Promote our high HSE standards and procedures for offshore wind; share local insights and ensure that global best practices and learnings are implemented locally;

Your Profile

  • At least 10 years of global relevant experience in leading positions in development of large infrastructure projects; US offshore wind experience and or experience in infrastructure projects in California is beneficial
  • Proven leadership skills and managerial experience, ability to build and develop high performance teams and to motivate, acting comfortable in cross-cultural teams, collaborating across country boundaries with a sense of diversity and inclusion
  • Results-oriented and Entrepreneurial mindset, ability to analyze and summarize complex development topics and aggregate decision-relevant information to convey messages clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with people of different backgrounds and cultures, must be a team player.
  • Excellent understanding of financial & commercial analysis and specifically of competitive drivers that can help commercializing projects in very competitive environment
  • Excellent university degree (BS), Masters preferred
  • Sound understanding of US offshore wind market dynamics & market specific challenges
  • Willingness to extended travel regionally and inter-continentally (up to 30%)
