Overview
Serves the company by ensuring the compliance with domestic and international dangerous goods regulations and regulated cargo programs. Liaison's with domestic and international governmental agencies to ensure full compliance.
Responsibilities
Comply with all Company procedures as outlined in manuals, bulletins, and memos.
- Assist in managing, maintaining and revising, the Company's FAA Approved Dangerous Goods "Will Carry" Program.
- Advise on Dangerous Goods and Regulated Cargo Training Programs for Ground Operations, Flight Operations and Maintenance personnel in accordance with federal and international regulations.
- Performs Dangerous Goods and Regulated Cargo Inspections (documentation, emergency procedures, training, facilities, and compliance) for the network, ground handlers and vendors.
- Recommends new/corrective measures to ensure full compliance with ICAO / IATA and DOT / FAA regulations.
- Review and approve/reject Dangerous Goods and Regulated Cargo shipments
- Prepare, submit, and renew country permissions and Audit customer's records to ensure compliance with required country transport permits.
- Be participant in maintaining Dangerous Goods Emergency response and procedures for any in-flight or ground emergencies including Hot Line 24/7 coverage assignment.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures, and training manuals.
- Perform related training activities as needed.
- Interact with Federal (FAA, DOT) and International agencies (CAA, IATA, and ICAO) and International organizations in reference to the Dangerous Goods Transport and Regulations.
- Attend training seminars and regulatory conferences to ensure up-to-date compliance with aviation regulations
- Interacts on AMC operations for diplomatic clearances and exemptions.
- Other activities and special projects as directed by the Ground Operations Director or Vice-President.
- In the absence of the Departmental Manager, the Specialist may take the designation of his/her duties.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or minimum 3 years' experience in the airline industry, preferably with dangerous goods regulations and/or regulated cargo.
- Thorough knowledge of domestic and international air dangerous goods regulations and regulated cargo programs.
- Proactive in anticipating problems and initiate actions to resolve issues in regarding to training matters.
- Strong Computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel and Word specifically), Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop.
- Weight and Balance certified and qualified, but does not perform weight and balance.
- Dangerous Goods / Temperature Control certified and qualified.
