The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is looking for enthusiastic individuals wanting to make a difference by creating genuine moments with visitors. Whether it be by welcoming in guests at the Turnstiles, engaging in conversations at the Ticketing/Membership windows, or driving the Safari Train over our Flamingo habitat, our team is there to assist & facilitate an INSPIRED Visitor Experience.

We are looking for people who are anticipating working through Festival of Lights (Early January) . Saturday availability is highly preferred, and consideration will be given to people able to fulfill Saturday.

Through on-the-job training & employee engagement opportunities, you will:
* Gain experience, enhance your resume, & build your transferrable talents through providing excellent Visitor Experience
* Hone-in on your skillset across all career fields & areas of interest in this multitasking environment where no two days are the same.
* Develop your interpersonal skills through teamwork, initiating guest interactions, answering questions, & addressing concerns.
* Enhance critical thinking & communication abilities by helping with wayfinding & providing directions & suggestions for each guest's optimal visit.
* Build logistical masterminding by brainstorming & devising plans along with accuracy/attention to detail while cash handling at locations.
Job Duties Include:


  • Welcoming visitors through the gates at Turnstiles & being the gatekeepers of the Zoo
  • Directing guests safely & efficiently into & out of one of our Parking Lots
  • Help visitors choose the best ticket or pass to fit their needs at the Ticketing/Membership windows
  • Assisting with rentals & wayfinding at the Welcome Center
  • Register & location operations of the new electric Safari Train & new Conservation Carousel
  • Register operations for Giraffe Feedings & Kanga Klimb



The Requirements:


  • Employees must be 16 or older. All minors will be required to provide a work permit when applicable
  • Must be willing & able to work all locations outdoors in all climates & varying weather conditions with prolonged standing/walking
  • Able to lift/carry 35lbs unassisted
  • Willing & able to engage with the public in a positive & friendly manner
  • Must be trainable on cash handling, & maintain proper skill level
  • While previous experience is not required, candidates with experience will be highly considered
  • Incomplete application will not be considered. Resume/CV recommended but not required
  • Employment is contingent on passing a post-offer, pre-employment Drug Screening & Background Check



Availability:


  • Employment is considered seasonal/non-benefitted. Variable hour can be between 15-40/week, not to exceed an annual average of 30 hours/week
  • Availability should include at least 3 days per week, with a requirement of 1 weekend day (Friday-Sunday)

    • If you currently attending classes we will accept an availability for 2 days a week, with the expectation that it will increase to 3 days once classes are finished.


  • Typical workday will vary day by day. Shifts range throughout the day from an 8am start time until an 8:30pm end time, with the majority of shifts in the 8am-5pm range.
  • Shifts typically range from 5-8 hours in daily length
