Job Description Nuclear Safety Specialist shall support EM-LA's oversight of the EM-LA cleanup contractor(s)'s occupational radiation protection program including: program management support, support in oversight/performance assurance, procedure reviews and development, assessment of qualifications and training, operations and logistics support, radiological engineering support, external and internal dosimetry program oversight, and provide support in the evaluation of off-normal events and employee concern investigations elated to radiological issues. Typical job responsibilities assist and support management in NCS program implementation and engineering system design; which may include duties or activities in one more of the following areas, in addition to other duties assigned:
Job Requirements Minimum education and fifteen (15) years of experience as described above. Professional certification (such as Nuclear or Health Physicist). Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Health Physics or specialization in physics, radio biology, radiological physics, radiation biophysics, or other health physics related subjects preferred. Expert understanding of pertinent codes, governing regulations and industry practices Expert knowledge of applicable codes and standards as well as project procedures Strong interpersonal and communication skills Understanding of multiple engineering disciplines Must possess or be able to obtain a DOE "L" clearance Any site related training Duration: Federal Government Clearance: This position may require the ability to obtain a government clearance. This position may require reviews and test for absence of any illegal drugs along with a background investigation by the Federal government in order to obtain an access authorization prior to employment, and subsequent reinvestigations may be required.
