Public Safety Officer Job No: 497287 Position Type: full-time Location: Lewisburg, PA Categories: Other, Public Safety At Bucknell Public Safety, our mission is to enhance the quality of life, safety, and security of our community. University Police Officers are responsible for the operational law enforcement function of the Division of Public Safety. These functions include protection of life and property, preservation of peace, maintenance of good order, establishment of relationships with the community, and responding to calls for service. Responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all University property and community members, both on and off campus. Duties include patrolling the campus on foot, bike, and in university-owned vehicles; responding to emergencies quickly and calmly, and determining the appropriate course of action; monitoring campus buildings, including fire, intrusion alarm, remote systems, and other security systems; providing safety escort services for students and employees as requested; providing emergency first aid and/or requesting other medical services as needed; assisting with traffic detail and crowd control during special events; investigating criminal and civil incidents and writing reports; and enforcing parking regulations. Officers are required to participate in on-going job-related training and development activities. Officers must work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, and holidays, over 3 shifts. Job Duties: Additional Functions: Minimum Qualifications: Other Requirements: All Public Safety personnel must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check, psychological examination, drug screen, and driving record check. All Public Safety personnel will be subject to yearly random drug screenings. Public Safety personnel must be available to work weekends and some holidays. This position is classified as part of essential services. Public Safety Personnel must be able to reach campus within 30 minutes of driving time in the event of an emergency. Public Safety personnel must work overtime when emergencies exist or when special programs require it. Physical Demands: The Public Safety Officer occasionally will be required to lift, move, push, pull, or carry materials weighing from 20 to 50 lbs. Regular walking, biking, and driving is required. Must be able to run, bend, lift, and climb as required. Must be able to quickly respond to critical incidents. Must be able to wear body armor. Work Type: This position is full-time, benefits eligible, non-exempt position. This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application. Salary Range: This is a Staff Non-exempt position with a hiring range of $22.22-27.78. The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
