Postdoctoral Researcher in Hydrologic Modelling for a period of one year with the possibility to extend

Seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher interested in collaborating on a project that explores new techniques to investigate vegetation resilience to drought. The goal is to develop a catchment-scale hydrologic modelling framework that incorporates feedbacks between subsurface water storage and vegetation growth and water-use. The project will involve numerical modelling of surface-subsurface hydrology and plant phenology, as well as synthesizing remote sensing data, field observations, and model output.

The position is for a 1-year, full-time Postdoctoral Researcher as part of an It will be located at WFU's Wake Downtown Campus in Winston-Salem, NC with occasional travel to the in Boulder, CO, and opportunities to network with members of the of NSF's Critical Zone Network.

Minimum qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Civil & Environmental Engineering or a related field
  • Demonstrated publishing record in peer-reviewed journals
  • Strong mathematical modelling and programming experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a collaborative team and communicate effectively
  • Committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM
  • Preferred qualifications
  • Ability to program in FORTRAN, Python, MATLAB, R, or similar
  • Ability to analyze and visualize data using MATLAB, ArcGIS, or similar Proficiency using LINUX/UNIX operating systems
  • Proficiency with High Performance Computing (HPC)

The position carries an annual salary of $55,000 (plus benefits) and funding for publications and travel to a professional conference each year.
