Overview

Canon U.S.A.'s corporate HQ based in Melville, NY is seeking a Sr. Manager in the Payroll Shared Services department. The Payroll Dept oversees high volumne, multi -state payroll for Canon U.S.A. and X subsidiary companies.


Responsibilities

The Sr. Manager, Payroll Shared Services manages the activities of the payroll function via in-house payroll system and has accountability for the timely and accurate payment of payroll to employees, along with proper remittance of all associated government withholding taxes and 401k contributions, for Canon U.S.A. and all subsidiaries covered by the current shared services model.
Other responsibilities that reside under this leadership role are;
* Reviews existing processes for efficiency and streamlines them where necessary; develops policies and procedures; develops and maintains thorough documentation (process flows, checklists, step by step user guides, etc.) for payroll processing , timekeeping, HR data maintenance, payroll tax (setup, reconciliation, payment, filing, amendments, registration, notices, etc).
* Ensuring compliance with tax withholding, unemployment, pay statements, wage & hour, garnishments, workers compensation (etc) at Federal, State & Local levels.
* Overseeing SOX Workflows and Sox Audits.
* The tax payment, filing, reconciliation and reporting function.
* Activities related to mergers & acquisitions.
* Overseeing earnings/deductions base table setup including taxation and inclusion/exclusion in various programs & systems as needed.
* Managing tax audits as needed.
* Creation and management of detailed year end project plan, testing, reconciliation to ADP and filing deadlines are met.
* Review of periodic tax updates for relevance, accuracy and timeliness.
* Liaison to third party payroll providers, sourcing solutions, negotiating contracts and working with Legal and compliance as needed.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required, plus 9 years of related experience and management of 2 or more regular full-time employees.
The successful candidate will have experience managing a high volume, multi state payroll.
