Job Description and Duties

This is a readvertisement if you have previously applied you do not need to reapply.

You must take the exam and pass please and gain list eligibility. Exam is 7CEAC PEST CONTROL TECHNICIAN, CORRECTIONAL FACILITY.


Under direction of the Supervising Groundskeeper II, C.F., this position is responsible for the control and elimination of pest and rodent infestations. Must possess a Field Representative, Branch 2 License (General Pest) issued by the Structural Pest Control Board of the California Department of Consumer Affairs. Must possess knowledge and ability in the use of tooling, traps, chemicals and equipment necessary to facilitate this function. Will be required to maintain current individual certifications and/or licenses necessary to fulfill the job duties of this position. Maintains order and supervises the conduct of persons committed to the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. May be required to undergo a physical and pulmonary examination for the respirator program. May be required to participate on an asbestos abatement team with proper training and the Confine Space Entry Program. May be required to be certified and participate in Backflow Prevention Program. Pursuant to the Public Health Orders (Guidance for the Use of Face Coverings) issued by the California Department of Public Health and the directive Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccines and Testing for Institution Staff issued by the Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR), all staff who work in correctional settings who are unvaccinated, partially vaccinated, or have not provided a record of full vaccination shall undergo twice-weekly COVID testing with at least 72 hours between each test. Masks must be worn in accordance with local requirements, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) requirements, and directive (Required COVID-19 facial coverings for all institutional and facility staff) issued by CDCR.

CMC has two physically separated housing complexes, commonly referred to as "East" and "West". An emphasis is placed on providing all inmates with programs for self-improvement. These programs include academic and vocational education, work skills in prison industries and inmate self-help groups.

The Level III housing complex (East), which houses medium security general population inmates, is divided into four facilities. Each facility has its own dining room, classrooms, athletic fields, and two three-story housing units. The East housing complex has a fully licensed Correctional Treatment Center as well as a fully licensed 50 bed Mental Health Crisis Unit.

The Level I and II housing complex (West) houses minimum security general population inmates in dormitory settings within three separate facilities. In addition, the West housing complex contains a Level I camp program for fire suppression, conservation and other community service work.

Special Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) a(n) FR Branch 2 License (General Pest) License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.

If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position.   3. Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
