Job Description
The Office of the County Administrator is seeking a motivated, team-oriented collaborator to serve in the role of Legislative Policy Analyst for the County's federal and state legislative program. Key responsibilities include conducting research, analysis and production of reports to assist the legislative liaison in developing and implementing the County's federal and state legislative programs. This position will also maintain the legislative policy database and legislative bill review system. In addition, the position will also assist with research and analysis during the state and congressional sessions and create documents for review by the public and use by staff and elected and appointed officials. This position will also assist with special projects. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of the federal legislative and appropriations process and the Virginia legislative and appropriations process and must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective presentation, analytical, and organizational capabilities. Salary Commensurate with Experience Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Business Administration, or related field; three (3) years of related work experience in areas such as legislative or policy analysis; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with office suite software such as Access, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Visio. Special Requirements The Legislative Policy Analyst may need to attend evening Board of Supervisors meetings as required. Some travel can be expected to Richmond and Washington D.C., and to occasionally be available to respond to developments during evenings and weekends particularly during the annual Virginia General Assembly legislative session, and special sessions that may be convened.
