Job Description

Summary The A/P and Accounting Analyst is primarily responsible for processing and maintaining all accounts payable records from purchase to payment, as well as monitoring related accounts, processes, policies and controls. The position also assists with general ledger and closing duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist in monthly closing, including but not limited to closing ERP ledgers, Intercompany postings and balancing, and various accruals.

  • Analyze monthly variance to budget and forecast.

  • Complete various monthly GL account reconciliations as assigned.

  • Document policies and procedures for functional area.

  • Validate, reconcile, code and enter invoices for raw materials, freight, and general expense through 3-way match process while monitoring approval controls. This includes calculating conversions for weight and currency.

  • Review and monitor vendor payment agreements for discounts, terms, contracted rates, and end dates.

  • Assist in cash requirements and forecasts.

  • Monitor usage and process company credit card transactions.

  • Investigates and resolves issues associated with processing of invoices and purchase orders.

  • Verify, track, and report appropriate sales and use tax for government reporting.

  • Assist in evaluating and producing tax exemption certificates

  • Review Supplier credit applications for proper information. Provide recommendation to management for their review.

  • Maintain and organize all payable files.

  • Work with team to resolve issues with PO/Invoice discrepancies.

  • Support team as a backup for other department functions as needed.

  • Special projects as needed.

Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Comprehensive understanding of purchase to payment process

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal relations skills.

  • Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications.

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, with an advanced Excel skill set.

    • ERP experience preferred.

  • Presents numerical data effectively

  • Ability to compute conversion rates

  • Understand sales and use tax rules for a manufacturing business

  • Manages time efficiently. Completes work accurately while promptly meeting deadlines. Flexibly changes direction to meet a need or solve a problem.
