Description

GAI is seeking a Project Engineer in Training (EIT transmission line engineer) to join our Power Delivery team. Required skills include critical thinking, problem-solving, organization, team focus, and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real-life problems. Candidates with a minimum of 1 year of experience and knowledge in PLS-CADD (Power Line Systems - Computer Aided Design and Draft) are eligible for remote work. Candidates without PLS-CADD knowledge need to be based at any GAI office on-site or on a hybrid schedule. The successful candidate will be eligible for a GAI sign-on bonus if applying without the use of an outside recruiting agency.

The Project EIT is responsible for assisting a team of engineers and project managers with transmission line designs. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical, communication, and computer skills.

Job Responsibilities:



  • Complete day-to-day project tasks as required for successful project delivery. Tasks may include:


    • Preparation of Specification Packages
    • Preparation of Structural and Fabrication Drawings
    • Design and Analysis of Transmission Lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Tower
    • Design and Analysis of foundations
    • Analysis of existing and proposed structures with regard to Client and Other required codes, standards, and specifications
    • Performance of Electrical Clearance checks and calculations
    • Coordination and development of permits for Railroads, Roadways, and Environmental Crossings


  • Apply engineering principles to assist in the design of Power Delivery Projects
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Perform complex tasks typically following established processes


Education and Training:



  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited college or university in engineering is required. Preferred a degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering.
  • Preferred experience with PLS suite (PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE)
  • Preferred experience with PLS-TOWER
  • Overall experience and or combination of licensure/certification 0-5 years


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:



  • Must have EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering)


Competency:



  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Autocadd, Microstation, PLS Suite


Communication Skills:



  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical reports and procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and other business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other staff members.


Mathematical Skills:



  • Required mathematical skills are commensurate with the technical or engineering discipline practiced (e.g., engineering calculations, design, etc.)


Computer Skills:



  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of basic computer systems and software packages. Must be willing to learn software that is specific to Power Delivery Industry.


Travel Requirements:



  • Must be able to travel out of state to GAI offices, client offices, and project site visits as needed. Travel requirement is estimated at up to 10%.
