Position Summary:
The Visual Perception Lab at the New Jersey
Institute of Technology (NJIT) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join the
lab. The lab uses an experimental-computational framework, involving
computational modeling, behavioral psychophysics, and eye-tracking to determine
how the human visual system integrates sensory information to make perceptual
judgments while accounting for uncertainty and statistical variability.
Essential Functions:
- Design and run psychophysical experiments using eye-tracking technology
- Contribute, test, and develop mathematical models of vision
- Carry out data analysis and data visualization using related software
- Contribute by preparing journal publications, conference submissions, and grant proposals.
- Mentor and coordinate undergraduate and/or graduate research assistants
- Develop collaborative
research projects on topics of shared interest with the PI
rerequisite Qualifications:
- Candidates should have a PhD in vision science,
psychology, computer science, neuroscience, or related fields. Strong
mathematical and programming skills (Python, MATLAB, R), evidence of research
productivity, and strong communication skills are required. - At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience with eye-tracking is a plus.
