Position Summary:
The Informatics Department at New Jersey Institute of Technology
(NJIT) is looking for a postdoctoral researcher who is interested in research
and development related to areas that combine technology and
human-interaction such as mixed reality, multi-modal interaction, simulation
and training, especially with applications in the healthcare domain. The
candidate must have a strong computing background. The appointment
is for one year, renewable, and expected to start no later than September
2022.

Essential Functions:
You will be part of a diverse, supportive and dynamic team and may
have to learn new skills needed for ongoing and emerging projects. Your
responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage multiple research projects while working with faculty and students.
- Develop new software, and/or integrate existing software, and/or support existing projects.
- Interact with subject matter experts from different domains.
- Design and run user studies (qualitative and quantitative).
- Write research papers and present at scholarly venues.
- Write and/or contribute to the writing of proposals, and project reports.
- Mentor undergraduate students in research.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Modeling and Simulation or related fields in technology (alternatively, evidence that all requirements for a PhD have been fulfilled and that the applicant is pending graduation).
- Strong publishing record in computing and/or areas related to human-computer interaction.
- Proficient in programming skills, preferably object oriented programming (e.g., Java, C#, C++).
- Solid knowledge of 3D computer graphics and/or 3D game engines (e.g. unity, unreal).
- Other related areas include multimodal interaction and tracking are desired.
- Strong verbal and writing skills
- Experience in multidisciplinary scientific collaborations.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
